The chairman of the Democratic committee, Sean Grace informed the police that five nails were driven into one of his tires. Grace told the New Haven Register that he woke up last Thursday, Oct. 7, with a flat tire.
Initially, Grace did not have much concern. However, the problem was brought to his attention when he brought his car in for a tire change, where they found “five nails in the thing.” Once the tire change was made, it was identified that five nails were punctured in the center tread of his tire, according to the police report.
There were no suspects or witnesses, according to the report. Even though the report said that Grace observed the flat tire on Friday morning, Grace said he noticed it on Thursday. As a result, Grace thinks there may be a mistake in the report because he did not notify police until Friday.
There were no specific accusations made by Grace on why this event happened, but he indicated that it might have to do with the political climate, stating that “change is not easy.” Tensions may be starting to rise with the upcoming election in November because there could be major changes coming for the first time in 16 years
Attorney Sue Green said in an email on Tuesday that the case is currently open. The New Haven Register attained the police report through a Freedom of Information Act.
