Quinnipiac University Office of Housing announced updates to the room selection process ahead of the 2026-27 academic year, which will assign lottery numbers to complete groups instead of individuals.
During an information session on Feb. 10, Associate Dean of Student Affairs Craig Lennon and Director of Housing Melissa Karipidis outlined changes to the process and addressed student concerns.
“We’re trying to be more transparent in the process and help you consider group cohesion,” Lennon said.
Under the new process, students must fill an entire apartment or suite to be eligible to select housing. Groups that do not meet those requirements will be moved to the second, or regrouping, round.
Karipidis emphasized the importance of meeting deadlines, noting that students who fail to sign their housing contracts and make the $500 deposit by March 6 will automatically be placed in the second round.
Lennon and Karipidis encourage students to communicate with their groups early and make clear plans to navigate the new system successfully.
Selection numbers will be posted on March 27 at noon, with the first round of selection taking place on March 31 and April 2. Students unable to participate in the first round due to late contracts, deposits or unmet group size requirements will participate in regrouping from April 1-14. Juniors will select on April 13 and sophomores on April 14.
Housing options for the upcoming academic year will be reorganized as well. Sophomore students will be housed in Mountainview, The Complex, Village, The Hill or the Suites. Junior students will have the option to dorm in Crescent, Westview, Townhouses, Founders Hall, Whitney Village or select Hill suites.
The changes are intended to reduce confusion during the room selection process and give students more responsibility over their living situations, according to the Office of Housing.
