New Haven, Danbury, Bridgeport and Hartford have already voiced their interests.<\/p>\n<p>In the interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/connecticut\/hamden\/amazon-hamden-mayor-leng-makes-pitch\">Hamden Patch<\/a>, Leng does not hide his excitement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s far-fetched at all,\u201d he said. \u201cIn fact I think we can most certainly make a push for it. There are a couple potential parcels that come to mind and we\u2019re beginning to explore them. I\u2019m personally going to try to reach out to their real estate folks at Amazon just to let them know we would talk to them for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new headquarters would produce as many as an estimated 50,000 jobs for the surrounding area. This would give a boost to the Connecticut economy after the state has seen the loss of General Electric and Aetna\u2019s Headquarters in recent years to both Boston and New York City respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Leng cited a <a href=\"http:\/\/yaledailynews.com\/blog\/2017\/09\/14\/connecticut-vies-for-second-amazon-hq\/\">Yale Daily News<\/a> article on Facebook last Thursday about the headquarters saying Amazon should consider this Hamden collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHamden and the Greater New Haven area has so much to offer and could be an amazing home for the new Amazon HQ,\u201d he wrote. \u201cMost certainly worth fully exploring what could be a wonderful opportunity for partnership for our region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>   <iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1xsgTA9ZEqG20TnVaBzi9dWYdUkI\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s main requirements for a new headquarters location are that they be in an urban or suburban area, within a metropolitan area of at least one million people, according to the New York Times.
