According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcconnecticut.com\/news\/politics\/Federal-Government-Notifies-21-States-of-Election-Hacking-446910803.html\">federal government<\/a>, \u201cRussian agents attempted to breach Connecticut\u2019s election system before the 2016 election.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After feeling their state\u2019s voting system had been hacked, many were worried their votes were not safe and action was needed to prevent this from happening again. The Department of Homeland Security did however notify Connecticut as 1 of 21 states that were possibly being targeted by russian hackers before the election even started.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.courant.com\/politics\/hc-pol-connecticut-russian-hacking-20170922-story.html\">Hartford Courant <\/a>Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee said news that Connecticut\u2019s system was targeted \u201creaffirms the urgency and importance of the ongoing federal investigations.<\/p>\n<p>California Secretary of State Alex Padilla has also voiced his opinion over how the Department of Homeland Security has responded to states over potential voter hacking. \u201cIt is completely unacceptable that it has taken DHS over a year to inform our office of Russian scanning of our systems, despite our repeated requests for information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Julius Saporito Embed from Getty Images Connecticut claims to have had their voting system targeted by Russian hackers during the Presidential campaign last year between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
