While some students are embracing the change, many remain wary of Quinnipiac\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Residents of Quinnipiac owned off campus properties have noted a discrepancy in care and maintenance between off campus housing and on campus dorms, such as Julianna Pliskin, who lives on Ives Street.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cWhen we moved into the house, there was mold on multiple walls in our laundry room,\u201d Pliskin said. \u201cHousing inspections work both ways. Quinnipiac should\u2019ve taken care of that before anyone even moved in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Additionally, Pliskin said she has a broken microwave, multiple stove burners that don\u2019t work, and broken kitchen cabinets, including some without knobs. They instructed her and housemates not to use the toilet until a new one is installed over spring break.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Although Perelli\u2019s home also has rusted drains, an outdated shower and broken kitchen cabinets, she says she is most upset that she doesn\u2019t have a dishwasher.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cWhen we moved in we noticed that our dishwasher had been taken out, so there\u2019s just an empty space in our kitchen,\u201d Perelli said. \u201cOther QU owned houses along this road have dishwashers and we pay the same price, so it\u2019s weird that they didn\u2019t replace it or give us an explanation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Popik echoed Perelli\u2019s sentiment, and calls her home \u201cpretty gross.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cWe had a moth problem last semester. It\u2019s leaked through the ceiling and there\u2019s mold. You can smell it, it\u2019s not safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Silver said he has put in multiple work orders, but the sink was the only problem that was addressed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cEverything else is still the same. It\u2019s been taking a while,\u201d Silver said. \u201cIt\u2019s been happening pretty much the entire school year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Quinnipiac\u2019s decision comes only a few months after Palmer Properties employees installed deadbolts on all exterior doors of Quinnipiac owned off campus houses.
