Governor Ned Lamont is considering building 53 gantries state-wide as part of his plan to toll all vehicles, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctnewsjunkie.com\/archives\/entry\/20190220_lamont_plan_calls_for_53_toll_gantries\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline\">CT News Junkie<\/span><\/a>. The gantries are bridge-like, overhead structures that will have cameras for tolling purposes. The idea to toll all vehicles came from a 2018 study done by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ct.gov\/dot\/lib\/dot\/documents\/dcommunications\/press_release\/ctdot_tolling_report_11142018.pdf\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline\">CT Department of Transportation<\/span><\/a> that initially sought to have 82 gantries with the <a href=\"https:\/\/ctmirror.org\/2019\/02\/16\/lamont-reverses-himself-will-offer-plan-to-toll-cars-and-trucks\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline\">potential to produce<\/span><\/a> $1 billion dollars annually. &nbsp;Lamont\u2019s plan has the tolling structures mapped out along major interstates (I-95, I-84 and I-91) and routes (15 and 8). <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">New toll structures are coming to Connecticut and Governor Ned Lamont is on board.
