Alongside his Yale colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massgeneral.org\/ciid\/research\/researchlab.aspx?id=1337\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline\">Dr. Allen Steere<\/span><\/a>, the pair defined the illness brought to their attention by the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/DPH\/Infectious-Diseases\/Tickborne\/Lyme-Disease\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline\">Connecticut Department of Public Health<\/span><\/a> as \u201clyme arthritis\u201d in 1977.
