HAMDEN \u2013 The Quinnipiac community gathered together in front of the Carl Hansen student center for the annual remembrance ceremony of the attacks of New York City\u2019s Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. Flight 11 hit the North Tower at 8:46 a.m., at which point all chaos ensued in the Big Apple.<\/p>\n

Jessica, a Quinnipiac student, has a family member who fortunately survived these devastating terrorist attacks. Although Jessica\u2019s father is a survivor, he currently suffers both mentally and physically.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt affects me a lot because I could\u2019ve lost my dad, and bothers me a lot,\u201d Jessica said. \u201cHe had to retire last year due to lung and chest issues, so he\u2019s mentally scared. I see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Director of Veteran and Military Affairs, Jason Burke, was a Navy U.S. pilot in 2001. He was given permission to fly a plane to help the recovery efforts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey modified these torches to cut through rebar, like the rubble, in New York City,\u201d Burke said.<\/p>\n

Everyone has their personal stories of where they were and what they were doing during these attacks, so these memories last a lifetime.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
