Crime Report: Week of March 9

Third-degree Burglary Arrests/March 8

Hamden police arrested two suspects for burglary after responding to an early morning call on March 5.

After investigation, police determined 18-year-olds Laruan Biggs, a Hamden resident, and Jennaya Mazyck of North Haven tampered with and forcibly entered two vehicles near Lucien Drive.

Police later charged Biggs and Mazyck in the third degree with two counts of burglary and two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary. They are scheduled to appear in the Meriden Superior Court on June 9.

Improper Storage of a Firearm Arrest/March 4

Hamden police arrested Hamden resident Keith Norfleet, 31, March 2 after he called and reported two of his guns were stolen from his vehicle outside of his home on Twin Brook Road.

Norfleet first called police on Feb. 17, and reported that, sometime in September 2020, two of his guns were stolen from a bag inside of his vehicle. The police conducted an investigation after they arrived, but later put out an arrest warrant for Norfleet for counts of improper storage of a firearm.

A few weeks later, Hamden police arrested Norfleet, who later posted a $1,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 25.

Police advise gun owners to safely store their firearms in a sealed steel gun cabinet or other capable safe and “always utilize a trigger lock.”

Second-degree Larceny Arrest/March 3

Officer Ronald Glifort pursued on foot and arrested a 17-year-old New Haven resident March 3 after watching the suspect lose control of his vehicle and struck a chain link fence.

Before the accident, Glifort said he “observed a suspicious motor vehicle” and ran the license plates, discovering the vehicle was reported stolen.

Following the arrest, police brought the juvenile up on several charges, including interfering with a police officer, larceny in the second degree, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle without a license. He is scheduled to appear in New Haven’s Juvenile Court on March 19.
