Legalization of Sports Gambling

By Dominic Carella

When you hand the cashier that money will you be going back to collect it and more? Or is it gone forever?

During the modern era of sports, sports gambling has mostly been illegal with some exceptions such as horse racing and a few other sports. Currently today there are 30 states that have legalized sports gambling and offer it to residents. Many gamble on teams for the thrill of it, to try and make money and unfortunately many do it to chase their losses. It adds excitement to your favorite team’s game that night or to the random tuesday night basketball game that you would never normally watch.

This is a market that is exploding in today’s world and will continue to do so as this service to the public becomes easier and easier to obtain for many. Being able to get in on the action from the comfort of your own home, with a couple simple taps on your phone app makes it much easier and enjoyable for many as there is no longer a need to take cash out of the bank and go stand in a long line at a casino. This podcast talks about what sports betting is, how you can get involved, why the odds are stacked against you, touches on some key sit-downs I had and much more.

From all the different types of bets to stories from gamblers themselves, funeral directors, former NYPD and so much more talk about how sports gambling has affected their lives and worlds in one way or another in this episode. I give you all the facts and numbers you need to know about how big this market really is and how much bigger it is going to get.
