Here’s who won the municipal elections in Hamden

Hamden’s candidates for mayor, town clerk, Board of Education and Legislative Council faced off in Tuesday’s municipal elections. Democrats retained the mayor’s office and won a majority of the council and BOE. 

“Thank you to all of the amazing candidates on Row A and congratulations to all of the candidates on the ballot that were elected to terms,” Mayor Lauren Garrett wrote in a press release Tuesday. “Hamden is lucky to have Karimah Mickens serving another term as town clerk and I am so excited to be working with our returning and new additions to the Legislative Council.” 

Here’s a complete list of who won. 

Mayor

Garrett, the incumbent mayor, won a second term over challenger Crystal Dailey.

Town Clerk 

Incumbent Democrat Karimah Mickens-Webber beat out Republican Brian Walton for the town clerk office.

Councilmen-at-large

Democrats Katie Kiely, Tasha Hunt, Laurie Sweet and Dominique Baez won more votes than Republican candidates Thomas Figlar and Robert Anthony, but Figlar and Anthony will serve on the council in required minority seats.

Board of Education

Democrats Peter Downhour and Greta Johnson won four-year BOE terms, along with Republican Mario Ciccarini. Republican Andrew Tammaro and Democrat Christopher Piscitelli won the two two-year seats. Republican Marcia Brown did not secure a four-year seat.
