The new Quinnipiac bookstore marked its official ribbon-cutting ceremony March 2.
The event featured refreshments, a student fashion show highlighting new apparel and a sale on all Champion merchandise. Music from a student DJ filled the store as students strutted around the upper level, modeling athletic wear and accessories.
“The fashion show was really fun. It was something I’d never done before, so it was just a fun little new thing that I got to experience, and I liked it a lot,” Noopur Iyengar, sophomore biology major, said.
President Marie Hardin opened by thanking students, staff and faculty for supporting the new space and emphasizing the new store’s role as a hub for campus pride and connection.
“Thank you for being here for this very special moment for us. I hope you all have taken a minute, if you haven’t, to just walk around this beautiful space,” Hardin said. “It is a welcoming space to me. It’s a fun space.”
Hardin also noted that the new standalone store allows the university to better showcase Quinnipiac merchandise while creating a central place for the community to gather.
The ceremony came weeks after the store opened in January, prompting some students to question the timing of the formal celebration.
“I was surprised that this was happening, considering it’s like two months now after the space opened, but I guess better than ever,” Oscar Lin, senior computer software engineering major, said.
Despite the delayed ceremony, the ribbon cutting marked the bookstore’s official debut as more than simply a place to shop, but as a space designed to foster school spirit and community connection.
